Privacy

This site is a set of static pages served from a CDN, with optional Steam sign-in and live squad rooms. With your permission, it uses Umami to measure public visits and signed-in website activity. What follows is the specific list of what gets stored and what leaves your browser, written the same way as everything else here, which is to say it describes what the code does rather than what a template says it might.

Information you provide

There is no contact form, newsletter or comment field. Optional squad membership uses Steam sign-in and lets you publish loadouts and plans as described below. If you email tips@wardogs.tips we obviously have your email address, because you sent it to us. It is used to reply to you and nothing else.

What stays in your browser

Several pages remember things using localStorage. This is storage on your own device. Our tools do not send their saved preferences to a server. Clearing your browser data removes them. Our Umami integration does not use analytics cookies.

• The loadout builder keeps item footprints you enter in the contributor panel, so your measurements survive a reload.
• The compare drawer keeps the weapons you have added to it.
• Weapon pages keep small display preferences.
• Analytics settings remembers your accept or reject choice in wardogs-umami-consent-v1 for 180 days. This preference is used only to honour your choice.
• Notices remember that you dismissed them, so they stay dismissed.

An ordinary loadout link is encoded in the URL itself, not stored on our server. The link contains the loadout. Third-party scripts running on the page can access its URL, including a shared loadout.

Private squad rooms and artillery plans

Squads are optional. The squad and artillery pages check your sign-in with our Cloudflare Worker but do not create a room automatically. Steam sign-in redirects you to Steam, where you authenticate directly. Steam confirms your public Steam ID; our server may fetch your public profile name and avatar URL. We do not receive your Steam password, friends list, inventory or game files. Public calculators and loadout links work without signing in.

Your sign-in uses a secure, HttpOnly cookie on our squad API, __Host-wardogs-steam, and a server session holding your Steam ID, display name and avatar URL for up to 30 days. A temporary __Host-wardogs-steam-flow cookie and server record expire after 10 minutes and bind the sign-in attempt to your browser. Sign-out revokes that server session and clears its cookie. Each Steam account also has a pointer to its latest squad, expiring with that squad, so another signed-in device can reconnect. Sign-out does not remove content you already shared; leave or close the squad to do that.

Squad names are assigned randomly from a fixed word list. Members see each other’s Steam ID, profile name, online status, explicitly shared loadouts, artillery coordinates and annotations. The host sets a shared server and team visible to everyone in the squad. These are not verified against game servers. Room data is stored in Cloudflare Durable Objects and expires 48 hours after creation. Leaving removes your member record and shared content; the host can remove members or close the room. The host’s leave action closes the room. Cloudflare processes IP addresses for delivery and rate limiting; our application does not store IP addresses in room or account records. Storage recovery retained by Cloudflare is separate from these active application records.

Signed-in Steam users with an invite can join, and recipients can forward it. Hosts can lock joining and replace invites; removing a member also replaces the invite. Member credentials are bound to the signed-in Steam identity. Keep invites private and avoid sensitive personal information in loadout titles or annotations.

The browser uses sessionStorage for room credentials (wardogs-squad-session-v1), a pending invite (wardogs-squad-invite-v1), loadout sharing draft (wardogs-squad-loadout-v1), artillery draft (wardogs-artillery-plan-v1) and the temporary Steam sign-in result. These normally last for this tab’s session, though browser restoration can restore them. Room credentials expire with the room. “Disconnect this tab” clears its membership credential but keeps shared data and the ability to restore your latest squad. Clearing site data removes local drafts too.

localStorage holds only a sign-in expiry hint (wardogs-steam-until), not your Steam credential. It lets us suppress ordinary page analytics on subsequent pages while signed in. Ordinary page analytics is also suppressed on the squad page and during a saved squad session. After the server verifies Steam sign-in, limited Umami activity events are sent only after analytics consent, as described below. Invite and sign-in result fragments are consumed before third-party scripts. Fonts still load. Other code running on our site can access browser storage; squads are not a confidential messaging service. After sign-out or expiry, ordinary analytics can apply on subsequent page loads.

Map tiles are served by this site and can remain in your browser cache. Map navigation does not contact Apollyon’s servers. Unpublished calculations and map movements stay in your browser.

What your browser requests from third parties

Depending on the page and your actions, your browser makes requests to the companies below. Each one necessarily sees your IP address and user-agent, because that is how an HTTP request works.

• Cloudflare hosts the site (Cloudflare Pages), serves every page, and runs the optional squad Worker and Durable Objects storage. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts serves the two typefaces the site uses, from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google states it does not use font requests to build advertising profiles, but the request is still made and your IP is still visible to it.
• Umami Cloud loads only after you accept analytics. Its script is served by cloud.umami.is and sends measurements to gateway.umami.is. See Umami’s privacy policy.
• Steam / Valve is contacted when you choose Steam sign-in or follow a Steam profile/store link. Steam receives the sign-in request and return address; our server verifies your Steam identity and may request your public display name and avatar URL. Profile pictures load directly from Steam’s image CDN, which receives your IP address; we send no page referrer. Pricing and news are still fetched at build time. See Valve’s privacy policy.

Shopping links

The PC and peripheral recommendations sections and Gear page show clearly labelled affiliate links to Amazon. Amazon US links attribute referrals through Amazon’s amzn.to short links or tagged product URLs. PC-part links open product searches; the keyboard link opens its product listing. The shopping-region dropdown lets you change the links displayed. It uses a saved choice or your browser language when a matching region is available, otherwise defaulting to United States. Your selection is saved in localStorage as wardogs-shopping-region; it does not use precise geolocation. We may earn a commission from purchases through these links. Shopping links do not load retailer widgets or tracking scripts on this site. Following a link takes you to Amazon, which may use cookies and other technologies to attribute referrals and process your visit under its Privacy Notice.

Advertising

The site serves no display ads and loads no third-party advertising scripts. Paid shopping links are labelled separately as described above.

Advertising was removed on 17 September 2026. An earlier ad preference may remain in your browser’s local storage, but the site no longer reads or uses it. You can clear previous advertising cookies and stored preferences through your browser’s site-data settings.

Analytics

Analytics is off until you choose Accept analytics. Rejecting leaves all site tools and Steam sign-in available. Use Analytics settings in the footer to change your choice. We remember accept and reject choices for 180 days, then ask again. If storage is unavailable, the choice lasts only for the current page.

With your permission, Umami measures page views and shopping-link clicks. We send the page path, page title, browser language and screen size. Shopping events include product, retailer, shopping region and page path; they omit the destination URL. We omit page queries, fragments and referrers, and do not send Steam identities, private room data, loadouts or annotations. Our integration does not set analytics cookies, identify users with account IDs, record sessions or collect heatmaps.

Ordinary page tracking is suppressed on the squad page and during a saved private session. After the server verifies Steam sign-in, an empty frame sends a page view and limited steam_active events containing a broad page path, signed-in status and recent engagement time. Events are sent at most once a minute during visible, recent interaction. Hidden or idle tabs stop sending activity; sign-out and expiry stop the tracker.

Withdrawing consent stops further measurements and removes the signed-in frame. It cannot cancel requests already in flight or erase data already received by Umami. Changes apply to other open tabs through browser storage notifications. Reports estimate browsers, not distinct people or Steam accounts; consent choices, blocked scripts and multiple devices affect visitor counts.

Umami replaced Google Analytics on 28 September 2026. The site no longer loads the Google Analytics tag and clears accessible legacy Google Analytics cookies. Historical data already sent to Google is not transferred to Umami or erased by this change.

Children

This is a fan site about a video game and is not directed at children under 13.

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights of access, correction and erasure over personal data a site holds about you. Changes

This page is versioned in the same git repository as the site, so every change to it is dated and attributable. Last substantive update: 30 September 2026.
